The district is continuing to refine the demolition and site-use assumptions associated with the Middle School. At this time, the estimated cost for decommissioning and demolition is approximately $300,000- less than what we spent on HVAC repairs in the last year alone. The important financial question is not simply the cost of demolition. The district must evaluate the full lifecycle cost of:
- Continuing to operate the Middle School
- Major repairs and renovations
- Utilities
- Maintenance
- Staffing and operational requirements associated with a separate facility
- Potential demolition
- Site disposition or future use
- Construction of the proposed replacement space
The district will provide more specific figures as the project progresses and estimates are finalized.
