This is one of the central questions behind the current proposal.

The district has identified significant needs across its existing facilities. Some buildings require substantial investment simply to continue operating them in their current form.

The question is not only:

"How much will it cost to repair our buildings?"

It is also:

"How much will it cost to continue operating and maintaining this number of buildings over the next 10, 20, and 30 years?"

The current proposal attempts to address both sides of that equation by:

  • Addressing critical infrastructure needs
  • Reducing the number of facilities operated by the district
  • Concentrating students and programming into more appropriately sized buildings
  • Creating new instructional space where it is needed
  • Repurposing existing district assets
  • Reducing the long-term maintenance burden associated with some aging facilities The goal is to make facility decisions based not only on today's repair list, but on the long-term use and sustainability of the district's buildings.
