The proposed 7th–8th grade space would be designed as a separate middle school wing with an age-appropriate environment.
Students would continue to have:
- Middle school teachers
- Middle school programming
- Middle school activities
- Middle school athletics
- Dedicated middle school spaces
- Developmentally appropriate supports
- A separate middle school identity and experience
The proximity to the high school would also create opportunities for shared facilities and programming, when appropriate for individual students or programs.
The intention is not to eliminate the middle school experience. It is to provide that experience in a different facility configuration.
